Visit Shenandoah National Park

Shenandoah National Park encompasses part of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Virginia. The park is long and narrow, with the broad Shenandoah River and Valley on the west side, and the rolling hills of the Virginia Piedmont on the east.

The park is best known for Skyline Drive, a 105 mile long road that runs the entire length of the park along the ridge of the mountains. If you're coming in with your Lance Camper, Skyline Drive makes for both the perfect entrance and exit. This time of year when the leaves are changing color, Skyline Drive offers some of the best fall foliage views in the entire country.

If you love to hike, Shenandoah is your park. Over 100 miles of the Appalachian Trail run through Shenandoah and there are over 500 miles of other trails besides.

The park is also famed for its spectacular waterfalls, including Overall Run, Whiteoak Canyon, Cedar Run, Rose River, Dark Hollow Falls, Lewis Falls, South River Falls, Doyles River Falls, and Jones Run Falls.

Nature lovers may spot some of the local fauna, including black bears, coyotes, striped and spotted skunks, raccoons, beavers, river otters, opossums, woodchucks, and two species of fox. Birdwatchers will have a field day as they watch for over 200 species of native birds.

There are multiple campgrounds, among which are five major camps: Mathews Arm, Big Meadows, Lewis Mountain, Loft Mountain, and Dundo Group.
