If you are looking for a great place to go camping, head out to Glacier National Park. You have 13 different campgrounds to choose from; and they contain 1,009 sites. This gives you tons of options. Enjoy forests, meadows, mountains and lakes. Hike over 700 miles of trails.

All campgrounds are first-come first-served except Fish Creek, some of the sites in Apgar and St. Mary Campground. Those areas require reservations. You can reserve sites at St. Mary and Fish Creek up to six months in advance. Reservable sites in Apgar may be reserved up to 12 months in advance. However, reservations must be made at least three days in advance.

Many Glacier campground also have some sites that are available for advance reservations. Fees vary, depending on the campground, and range from $10 to $23 per night. Just fill out a fee envelope and deposit it with your payment in the fee tube within 30 minutes of your arrival. This allows you to choose a site that you prefer.

Camping is limited. From July 1 through Labor Day, you can only camp for 14 days in a period or in combined separate periods. From Labor Day through June 30, camping is limited to 30 days in a period or combined separate periods. Each campsite allows up to eight people and two vehicles. If you are tent camping, up to two tents may be placed at each site.

If you have a group of 9 to 24 people, you can reserve a group site at Many Glacier, Apgar, Two Medicine or St. Mary. If you don't reserve, be sure to check with a ranger before you use the site. There are no utility hookups and connecting to sewer, water and electrical outlets are not permitted. If you decide to stay an extra night that you did not pay for, you must register for the additional night or nights by 11:30 a.m. Checkout is at noon.
